As the weekend approaches, it is time to ask ourselves where we can spend the weekend without leaving the Valencian Community. Among our proposals there are getaways near Valencia and other places to spend the day in the Valencian Community. All these ideas are also valid if you are looking for an excursion for any weekend in some of the most beautiful villages in Castellón, Valencia and Alicante.
Table Of Contents
Buñol
Discover the water route of the Hoya de Buñol or visit the old town of the municipality. It has a neoclassical church of the eighteenth century, the church of San Pedro Apostle, the San Luis Park where the Hermitage of San Luis Beltran is located and the Galan Mill, now converted into a social center of the town.
Bocairent
A rural wonder in Valencia. This is how we can define this Valencian town, which is on the list of 7 wonders of Spain. If you come, do not hesitate to visit the Covetes del Moros and the historic center of the town.
Cabriel Sickles
This 31,446-hectare site was declared a natural park in 2005. The Cabriel River is the natural border between Castilla-La Manca and the Valencian Community. It is paradise if you are looking for breathtaking views, hiking or a lot of adventure with a rafting session.
Vilafamés
A small town in Castellón that always sneaks into the list of the most beautiful villages in Spain. Here we find streets that wind between narrow walls, brick houses, a castle of Arab origin, a stone that will force us to make a wish (the Roca Grossa) and steep slopes that lead us to an enviable view over the village.
Estubeny
The Cabrentà of Estubeny is the main attraction of this area. We find a jungle full of native, tropical and subtropical species, unique in the Valencian Community. It is a rainforest that has remained untouched by human action for years (hence its good state of conservation).
Morella
In the interior of Castellón we find a huge wall that protects the town of Morella. It has up to 16 towers and a castle that imposes just by looking at it from afar. Its old town is wonderful and perhaps that is what made Unesco fall in love with it when it was declared a World Heritage Site.
Peñiscola
Peñiscola makes anyone fall in love. It has always been a major tourist attraction and if you come here you should not miss its fortified castle by the sea, its gardens and stroll aimlessly, but with eyes wide open, through the most historic Peñíscola. Part of season 5 of ‘Game of Thrones’ was filmed here.
Peña Cortada Aqueduct in Streets
One of the most spectacular routes in the Valencian Community. You will need about 3 hours to cover the 8 kilometers that compose it. Along the way, caves and tunnels carved into the rock, ravines, cabins and viewpoints until you reach the Peña Cortada pass, a marvel at 25 meters high.
El Castell de Guadalest
It is located 500 meters above the Guadalest reservoir and its old town is a mixture of medieval and historical with a new, lively Guadalest. You will fall in love with its architecture and natural environment.
Xàtiva
We are before one of the towns with more historical and cultural wealth of the Valencian Community. It was home to Romans, Jews, Muslims and Christians. And one of the most important cities of the Kingdom of Valencia. You can’t miss the castle.
Whichever getaway you choose, the Valencian Community always hides secret corners to spend a different and authentic weekend. If you don’t want to go too far to continue discovering Valencia, you can visit some of the most important most spectacular locations less than 1 hour from the city.
