Chulilla, less than an hour’s drive from Valencia, is a jewel: its natural environment, in which the “route of the hanging bridges” stands out, is one of the main attractions. To this we must add that it has just over 600 inhabitants, so calm is guaranteed, and is one of the most beautiful municipalities of less than 10,000 inhabitants in the province.
Although perhaps the best known point of the municipality for many is the Charco Azul, a fluvial formation of the Turia River that runs between vertical rock walls.
In its most accessible stretch, the town hall enabled a few years ago a wooden platform that acts as a pier and viewpoint.
Access to Charco Azul is on foot, along a signposted route that starts in the center of the municipality. Bathing is permitted, although part of the infrastructure, such as a side walkway along the right bank of the river, is deteriorated and its use is not recommended for safety reasons.
The area is part of a wider network of hiking routes, including the aforementioned “hanging bridges route”, which crosses the Turia canyon by means of suspended structures.
Now, the new demographic impulse measures of the Generalitat Valenciana make it an option to take into account both for visitors and for those who value establishing their residence in rural areas.
Buying a house in Chulilla: an aid of up to 10,800 euros in 2025.
A new initiative of the Generalitat Valenciana aimed at facilitating access to housing in municipalities at risk of depopulation provides direct aid of up to 10,800 euros or 20% of the purchase price for people under 35 years of age who acquire a home as a habitual residence in municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants. Chulilla has less than 1,000.
In exchange, the maximum amount of the property must not exceed 120,000 euros. The aid does not include notary fees, registration, taxes or other concepts associated with the purchase and sale transaction.
Access to the subsidy is subject to the applicant’s income, which must be equal to or less than three times the IPREM ( currently 21,600 euros per year in 12 payments). In addition, the beneficiaries may not be owners of another home or use the purchase for a second residence.
The acquisitions must have been formalized between October 4, 2024 and the deadline of the call, still to be defined.
Purchases committed through a private contract converted into a public deed during the same period will also be eligible.
All the regulatory information has already been published in the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana (DOGV), and the application process is expected to start in the coming months through the Housing portal.
Other municipalities in Valencia that are part of this initiative.
Among the municipalities with less than 10,000 inhabitants in the province of Valencia, in addition to Chulilla, are Vallada, Bocairent, Navarrés, Chelva or Tuéjar. In total there are more than 200 municipalities where to buy housing to access this aid plan only in Valencia.
