If there is something that marks the summer in the Valencian Community, it is the richness of its orchards, which fills markets and shelves daily. Today, we tell you a secret that few know about its agriculture. Less than an hour from Valencia, in Ribera de Cabanes, in Castellón, is Berzas 5.0, a vegetable paradise that offers a unique experience for tomato lovers.
Imagine strolling among tomato, zucchini and passion fruit crops, and then enjoying a tasting paired with natural wines from the area.
Discover the tomato tasting in Castellón
In the orchard of Cabanes, north of Benicàssim, Berzas 5.0 is dedicated to the cultivation of quality tomatoes. This farm not only produces for some of the best restaurants in Spain, but also organizes tastings where you can taste up to eight varieties of tomatoes.
Each tasting is accompanied by natural wines, sourdough bread from Benicàssim and local oil. The sourdough loaf is from Homo Panis, the EVOO is from Som Malaerba, the wines come from Celler Les Foes and the tomatoes come from the Berzas garden.
It is an activity focused on proximity, sustainability and quality. In addition, the farm is the perfect setting to learn about the different aspects of cultivation, from seed selection to irrigation techniques.
Among the varieties you can taste are green tomatoes. Although many expect a sour taste, their sweetness and texture surprise those who try them. Cherry tomatoes, on the other hand, are like real “chuches”, as defined by @cookwithgiulia in her video, for their intense flavor and small size.
And if you come, you might also be interested in trying the zucchini and piparras, which are grown with the same care and dedication.
Throughout the summer, Berzas 5.0 will announce new tastings on its Instagram profile.
