October 9 is not just another day in Valencia and La Terreta. The Valencian Community celebrates its big day with a program packed with activities to mark this holiday.
From the most traditional events, such as the Baixada de la Senyera, the Entrada de Moros y Cristianos, fireworks displays, and mascletà, to food festivals, concerts, and a medieval military camp.
Paradoxically, the Valencian Community Day is celebrated over more than just one day, and the entire week leading up to it will feature events commemorating James I’s entry into the city.
Valencia will become (if it wasn’t already) the world capital of fireworks from October 12 to 16 by hosting the 20th International Symposium on Fireworks, one of the world’s most important fireworks festivals and conferences.
Over these five days, we’ll be able to enjoy 11 fireworks displays (including fireworks towers, correfoc, and despertà) and a drone show —all completely free of charge. You can check out the full schedule at this link.
If you love music and going to concerts, a Candlelight concert is a must-see for your October plans in Valencia. Valencia Half Marathon 2026
The Trinidad Alfonso Zurich Valencia Half Marathon, organized by SD Correcaminos, will take place on October 26 through the streets of downtown Valencia.
The European Space Agency (ESA) and Pokémon have created an exhibition on the mysteries of the universe, and the venue chosen in Spain to host this experience is the Museu de les Ciències. The event begins on Sunday, October 4, and visitors can explore the exhibition and participate in the various activities through April 30, 2027.
The star of the exhibition is a Pikachu that traveled to the International Space Station, spent 67 days in orbit, and circled our planet more than 1,000 times.
On October 8, the eve of Valencian Community Day, visitors to the Monteolivete Bridge will be treated to a double fireworks display as part of the International Fireworks Festival.
At 11:30 p.m., the Italian company Pirotecnica San Pio will set off a fireworks display, and starting at 11:59 p.m., the Valencian company Caballer FX will take over with a display featuring more than 1,000 kilograms of gunpowder.
Gastrónoma
This major food fair, a true benchmark in the industry, returns to Valencia for the tenth year to offer more than 28,000 m² of professional gastronomy accessible to everyone. Focused on the Mediterranean diet and locally sourced products, it will feature more than 300 exhibitors who will delight attendees with the treasures of our cuisine: from haute cuisine to our most traditional dishes, such as the classic rice dishes or the much-loved esmorzaret. International cuisine will also have a strong presence, with booths dedicated to countries from around the world.
But that’s just the beginning: 10 stages featuring live cooking demonstrations, gourmet bars (featuring cheeses, wines, or olive oils), various contests (such as beer pouring or baking competitions), and a wide variety of workshops, including one on Portuguese cuisine and another on Sicilian cuisine. In short, it’s a sensory journey that will leave any food or gastronomy enthusiast or professional thoroughly satisfied.
RunCáncer – Race Against Cancer
Valencia is once again hosting RunCáncer, a 6-kilometer charity run to fight cancer. The race will start on the Paseo de la Alameda, between the Peineta Bridge and the Flores Bridge. You can register for the race or support the cause through their website.

MarisGalicia – Grand Seafood Festival
MarisGalicia, the big seafood festival, returns to Valencia from October 2 to 25.
A huge tent with capacity for more than a thousand people will be set up at the Old Grao Station so visitors can enjoy the best of Galician cuisine, with a special focus on seafood.
In addition to great food, this festival features live music and traditional Galician dances.
The Enguera Olive Oil Fair
For those who enjoy authentic, time-honored flavors, the Enguera Olive Oil Fair is a great opportunity to get an up-close look at one of the pillars of the Mediterranean diet: olive oil. For three days, this Valencian town will become a showcase for local and gourmet products, where you can taste and learn about the region’s rich olive oil heritage.
The fair will offer a packed schedule of activities for all ages. Food lovers can enjoy olive oil tastings with food pairings and attend livecooking demonstrations led by local chefs. For a total immersion in the world of olive oil, the fair will also offer guided tours of the Cooperativa Campoenguera olive mill and the chance to participate in the olive harvest. In addition to a much broader range of activities, dining areas , artisan vendors , and agri-food stalls open to the public, there will be children’s workshops and cultural tours to discover the charm of Enguera firsthand.
From September 28 to October 4, the streets of Campanar are filled with culture and activities for all ages: children’s workshops, music, food, muixerangas, traditional dance, correfoc, and the Gran Nit d’Albaes.
Open House Valencia 2026
From October 23 to 25, the Open House architecture festival returns to Valencia, offering the opportunity to explore the city’s iconic buildings through guided tours, walking routes, and lectures.
