The 2025 work calendar in Valencia is full of long weekends or “semi-holidays” that, if combined with vacation days, will allow you to enjoy more than 40 days without working.
This “trick”, which has gone viral in recent weeks, consists of enjoying vacation days on strategic dates (a Friday before a Monday holiday, or a Monday holiday after a 3-day bridge) to maximize the time off.
In the Valencian case, according to our calculations, you can take up to 41 days (even more) without working, counting weekends and holidays. For this, we will only have to spend about 14 days of vacation leave.
The distribution of the days off should be as follows for this plan to be fulfilled:
- January 2025: Wednesday 22 is a holiday due to St. Vincent the Martyr in Valencia. If Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th are requested as vacations, a 5-day long weekend is available, including the weekend.
- February 2025: no holidays.
- March 2025: full Fallas. San José falls on Wednesday 19. If Thursday 20 and Friday 21 are taken as holidays, the same operation as in January can be repeated.
- April 2025: Easter Week will have as holidays Good Friday (April 18), Easter Monday (April 21) and San Vicente Ferrer (April 28). Taking only 4 days off, from April 22 to 25, we will have 11 days without work.
- May 2025: in May it will be necessary to copy to Madrid to have a 4-day long weekend. Friday, May 2 after the Labor Day, Thursday, May 1, should be taken as free.
- June 2025: This option is still up in the air, since San Juan will be a paid holiday, but recoverable (hours must be returned during the year). If Monday, June 23 is taken off, there will be a total of 4 holidays from Saturday, June 21 to Tuesday, June 24.
- July 2025: No holidays.
- August 2025: Monday, August 18 must be taken off to link a long weekend from Friday, August 15 (public holiday).
- September 2025: no public holidays.
- October 2025: after the Day of the Valencian Community (Thursday, October 9), there is an orphan Friday that if requested as a vacation will provide a 4-day long weekend.
- November 2025: All Saints’ Day will fall on a Saturday, but we can make up for it by asking for Monday the 3rd.
- December 2025: finally, December will welcome us with 2 possible combinations. The first one, ask for Friday the 5th to have a holiday until Tuesday the 9th. Then, in the middle of Christmas, Friday the 26th will be sandwiched between a Christmas Day holiday on Thursday the 25th and a weekend, a valid option to save days.
By law, vacations in Spain can never be less than 30 calendar days or 22 working days, which is equivalent to 2.5 days of vacation for each month worked. All these combinations will provide more than 40 days of vacation, between 41 and 42 depending on the combination, only spending about 14 days on average in 2025.
