
Metrovalencia will reinforce its services this Sunday May 11 on the occasion of the feast of the Virgen de los Desamparados, patron saint of Valencia, bringing forward the schedule of its first trains and scheduling special night circulations to facilitate the movement of citizens to the various religious and festive events planned.
The first train on Line 1 will leave València Sud at 05:55 hours in the direction of Empalme and will return at 06:17 hours.
On Line 3, a convoy will depart from Machado at 06:15 hours to Avinguda del Cid, from where it will return at 06:42 hours to Rafelbunyol. These services will be coordinated with the usual schedule for Sundays and holidays.
The stations closest to the central events in the Plaza de la Virgen are Túria, Àngel Guimerà, Plaça d’Espanya, Xàtiva and Colón.
In addition, Metrovalencia has planned a special night service for the early hours of Sunday morning, after the mascletà that will be fired on Saturday at 00:00 hours in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Metro and streetcar units will connect with key destinations such as Seminari, Aeroport, Paterna, Rafelbunyol, Marítim, València Sud, Doctor Lluch and Natzaret, among others.
The religious events will begin on Sunday 11 at 05:00 hours with the traditional Missa Descoberta in the Basilica. At 08:00 the Missa d’Infants will take place, while the solemn transfer of the Virgin will be celebrated at 10:30 hours, followed by the Pontifical Mass in the Cathedral at 11:30.
At 14:00 a mascletà will be fired in the Town Hall Square and, as a climax, the traditional procession will begin at 17:30.
