
The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) has activated the orange warning for heavy rains in the province of Valencia until next Thursday, March 6. Rainfall will be especially persistent on the north coast and inland of the province, with significant accumulations in a short time.
According to the latest report issued this Wednesday at 09:30 hours, the storm will continue to affect the entire Valencian Community, with special incidence in the provinces of Valencia and Castellón.
For Tuesday 4, Valencia is already in yellow warning for accumulated rainfall of up to 60 millimeters (mm) in 12 hours on the coast and inland north, and heavy rains of up to 30 mm in an hour, which could reach 40 mm / h in some parts of the coast.
This has forced the suspension of educational, social and sports activities in the city, at least until next Wednesday included.
In fact, the day of Wednesday 5 will bring a worsening of the storm, with the activation of the orange warning due to accumulated rainfall of 100 mm in 12 hours on the north coast and inland south of Valencia.
These rains will continue during Thursday 6, when it is expected that the heaviest rainfall can leave up to 40 mm in an hour and exceed 100 mm in 12 hours in some areas.
Valencia City Council has already confirmed that it will extend the prevention measures until Thursday.
Storm in the Comunitat Valenciana
In the province of Castellón, on Tuesday there will be a yellow warning for rainfall of up to 60 mm in 12 hours, but the situation will worsen on Wednesday with an orange warning for accumulations of 100 mm in 12 hours. On Thursday this warning will be maintained, with heavy rainfall of up to 40 mm in one hour.
For its part, in Alicante, on Tuesday the yellow warning will be activated on the north coast for rainfall of 60 mm in 12 hours, while on Wednesday will become orange warning for accumulations of 100 mm in 12 hours. No relevant warnings are expected for Thursday.
In total, AEMET warns that this rainfall episode could leave accumulations of more than 400 mm in some parts of the interior and pre-coastal areas of the Valencian Community.
