Pastry shops Monplá, located in the city of Valencia, and Pana David, in Meliana, have been crowned this Wednesday as the winners of the first edition of the Christmas contest “Best Artisan Roscón de Reyes of Spain”.
The event, organized jointly by the Guild of Bakers and Confectioners and the Guild of Master Confectioners of Valencia in the Grau Market, brought together more than thirty professionals to claim the excellence of this Christmas sweet.
Pana David, the pastry shop with the most innovative roscón in 2025

In the category of innovative roscón, the victory went to Pastelería Pana David, which has achieved a double in the list of winners thanks to an original proposal filled with cacau del collaret, without compromising the quality of the dough.
This roscón is sold only by order in its store at Carrer Industria, 7, in Meliana. It is priced at 40 euros.
Second prize in this section went to Forn Mariu (Ibi) and third prize to Más Que Pan (Tavernes Blanques).
The best classic roscón for a classic: Monplá

In the category of classic roscón, the first prize went to Pastelería Monplá. The jury valued the “perfect texture of its dough, airy and spongy”, as well as its impeccable baking and the characteristic aroma of traditional roscones.
This roscón is sold only by order in its workshop in Valencia (C/ Pizarro, 32) in 3 formats: a quarter, half a kilo and 3 quarters. The price of the half-kilo roscón without filling is 30 euros (38 euros if you opt for filling).
The podium of this modality has been completed by Sukar Pastry Shop (Valencia) with the second place and Pastelería Pana David (Meliana) with the third.
The panel in charge of evaluating the pieces was made up of Valencian pastry chefs such as José Montejano (Obrador Sucre, Concentaina), Jacob Torreblanca (Escuela Torreblanca, Alicante) and Jesús Machí (Horno San Bartolomé, Valencia); as well as Sergio Terol, president of the Academy of Gastronomy of the Valencian Community; Jesús Mora, member of the Board of Directors of AVACU and Peldanyos, Valencian influencer and foodie.
All the roscones presented to the contest have been donated to the Casa de la Caridad de Valencia in support of vulnerable groups during the holidays.
