From June 8, 2025, young people who want to continue to benefit from the free pass on public transport in the Comunitat Valenciana must have a new personalized card: the Móbilis30. This card is not free: it has a single cost of 4 euros.
Initially, May 1st was set as the deadline for the transition from cardboard to plastic. It was then extended to May 31 and now, for the last time, to June 8, 2025.
Although access to transport will remain free for children under 31 until at least June 2025, the Generalitat Valenciana has introduced this condition to keep the system more controlled and personalized. Specifically, the season ticket is required to be loaded on a Móbilis30 card with the name and photograph of the user.
Why do we have to pay now?
The measure seeks to replace the old generic titles (such as cardboard cards or Metrovalencia’s soft cards) with a more durable and secure support. The cost of 4 euros corresponds to the issuance of the physical card, which is made of plastic and contains the holder’s personal data.
This change was established in Decree 2/2025, approved by the Consell, and affects all young people who want to continue enjoying free metro, bus and streetcar transport.
How to get the new card?
The card can be applied for online through the official website of the Autoritat de Transport Metropolità de València (ATMV). The process is simple, but it is essential to be registered in Spain, as no international deliveries are made.
Once the application has been processed and the 4 euros paid, the card will be mailed to the user’s home address within a few days, although delays of several weeks have been reported in previous months.
What happens with the old cards?
Free tickets issued before this change can be used until May 31, but after that date they will no longer be valid if they are not loaded on a personalized card.Last April, the Generalitat extended the period of use of the old cardboard cards by 30 days, given the high demand and delays in shipments.
