With the dark evenings, come the illuminated nights. And in this Christmas 2024 in Valencia, lights, cribs and Christmas trees are the protagonists of the holidays, as the municipal government has tripled the budget allocated to decorate the streets, squares and corners during this time.
So we propose a route through the city so you can experience the magic of Christmas firsthand, thanks to all the Christmas decorations and ornamentation with which Valencia has been filled this year.
Of course, prepare a backpack with water and a coat because our route is more or less 3 hours of pure Christmas.

City Hall Square: tree, skating rink and nativity scene in the Crystal Hall.
If we want to experience Christmas in first person, our first stop has to be, without a doubt, the Plaza del Ayuntamiento.
When we approach, the first thing we will see is the big Christmas tree that presides over the square. Its decoration is a tribute to the victims of the DANA, that’s why all the affected municipalities are presented on it. In addition, this year it is crowned by the star of solidarity, with which we want to make visible the importance of solidarity that has spread through Valencia this last month and a half.
As every year, we will also find a skating rink and a carousel, ideal for couples or families. Because, is there anything more Christmassy than skating and then having a hot chocolate while strolling through the illuminated streets?
Nor, as could not be missing at this time of year, we will also find a life-size nativity scene. This Christmas 2024 has opted to represent the scene of a classic nativity scene, Greco-Latin style, and the creation has been the hand of the fallero artist José Puche and artists Ceballos and Sanabria.
In addition to this crib, once in the Town Hall Square, we can enter to see the typical crib of the Crystal Hall of the Town Hall. It has 40 square meters of figures, animals and handmade accessories and has been developed by the Association of Nativity Scenes of Valencia.
This crib also wants to be a tribute to those affected by the DANA and volunteers. Therefore, it has a white rose, as a symbol of respect, and a figure of a volunteer with a shovel, boots and clothes full of mud.
Calle Colón: luminous arches
When we have finished with all the activities in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento, the next obligatory stop is Calle Colón, where 26 large luminous arches have been installed that will make us feel like we are in a world of pure fantasy.
Calle de la Paz: tears with sparkles
From Colón we will continue to Plaza de la Reina, without forgetting to go through the Calle de la Paz, which has 60 arches in the form of glitter-like tears , which emit sparkles.
Plaza de la Reina: market, nativity scene and lights.
From Calle de la Paz we will arrive at Plaza de la Reina, one of the most Christmas-like spots in the city (after Plaza del Ayuntamiento, of course). Here we can find three-dimensional luminous decorations and a nativity scene with a dozen figures.
In addition, to liven up our visit, we recommend stopping at the Christmas Craft Fair that is installed in the square. In this fair, of professional artisans, we can find the perfect gift for our loved ones.
Undoubtedly, visiting Plaza de la Reina is like being inside a Christmas card.
Plaza de la Verge and Palau de la Generalitat
Finally, a few meters from Plaza de la Reina, we find another purely Christmas corner in Valencia: Plaza de la Verge. Here we can enjoy a lighting that will make us forget that it gets dark at 5 pm.
In addition, a few meters away, we can also enjoy the ornamentation of the Palau de la Generalitat, which also has thousands of bulbs that illuminate its facade and garden, where there are installed several luminous figures such as reindeer and stars.
Undoubtedly, the perfect place to finish our route and rest surrounded by trees, lights and figures.
