This Sunday was held the 63rd International Valencian Paella Competition, a very popular award where the best chefs and restaurants of this Valencian dish compete.
In this contest the best paella in the world is chosen and this year it was won by the restaurant Miguel y Juani de l’Alcudia. It is a typical Mediterranean food place at popular prices where we can eat, apart from paella, traditional dishes.
It is a family restaurant founded, as its name says, by Miguel and Juani in 1989. Currently, it is run by their sons Pedro and Paco who have been accumulating gastronomic awards since 2014, such as the first prize in the 2016 Putxero Valencià Contest or in 2021 also the first prize in the Concurs Arrós amb Fesols i Naps Vila de Catadau.
The essence of the restaurant is completely familiar and Mediterranean, one of those that are hard to find in a gastronomic world where the hipster and modern is in fashion. Its tables are made of wood with tablecloths on top and the decoration reminds us of the bar where we used to go to eat with the family on Sundays.
In addition, this paella can also be found in Japan, as there are currently 5 restaurants Miguel and Juani in Japan, two in Tokyo, two in Yokohama and one in Osaka.
