Two of the best sandwiches of Spain will be cooked in Valencia this 2024. The bars and restaurants Cal Carrero and La Mesedora came second and third in the first edition of the Spanish Bocata Championship held in the Mestura space of Deloya, in Oviedo.
With a first prize that went to Catalonia, specifically the best sandwich of 2024 the “Miguelín Special” is cooked at Tasqueta Cal Miguelin in El Pla del Penedès (Barcelona), these two Valencian establishments have completed the podium with two recipes of their own, ideal for lunch.
Cal Carrero, in the neighborhood of San Isidro, has opted for the revision of a classic, the longaniza sandwich(the llonganisa de tota la vida). Its recipe: fresh Easter sausage, scamorza cheese, caramelized onion, candied cherries, pesto, herb mayonnaise, basil. Price 8 euros (10 euros with full lunch menu).
The third prize, for La Mesedora de Algemesí, has been an own creation baptized with the name of Joselito. Tomato base, handmade sausage, homemade bacon jam, caramelized red onion and smoked mayo sauce. Espectacle. The price is 11.95 euros with drink and coffee.
