Valencia will once again have a public holiday on Monday, April 13. According to the regional calendar, more than 200 municipalities in the Valencian Community will celebrate the feast day of Saint Vincent Ferrer, patron saint of the region.
This holiday is always celebrated one week after Easter Monday and is observed in Valencia, Alicante, and Castellón.
The theatrical reenactment of the miracles of Saint Vincent Ferrer is the highlight of this holiday, along with the ceremony held in the municipality of Llíria known as “The Miracle of the Fountain.”
Who was Saint Vincent Ferrer?
He is known as “the saint who performed miracles,” and for years he traveled throughout the Crown of Aragon, Italy, and France, working wonders wherever he went. This should not be confused with Saint Vincent the Martyr, patron saint of the city of Valencia, whose feast day is set in January and is always celebrated on the 22nd of that month.
Valencia will host a fireworks display this Saturday in honor of the saint in front of the Serranos Towers.
