Valencia’s City Hall Square will once again become the epicenter of Valencian rice culture. On April 25 and 26, the 9th edition of TastArròs will take place—the annual festival organized by the Regulatory Council of the Arròs de València Designation of Origin to promote the tradition and cuisine of Valencian rice through tastings and exhibitions.
As in previous years, the event will bring together chefs and producers in the heart of Valencia with free admission and tastings of Valencian paella and gourmet rice made with the three varieties protected by the D.O.—bomba, senia, and albufera— for 5 euros per serving and 2 euros for a third-liter bottle of Estrella Galicia.

The square will host an urban sequer installation , a recreation of a traditional drying shed where 10,000 kilos of rice will be spread out to demonstrate historical working methods, as well as a competition such as the Arrocero del Futuro, in which young chefs under 40 from all over Spain will compete live.
In addition, there will be live cooking demonstrations on the TastArròs stage, as well as live music.
The event will also feature the participation of fishermen from the Port of Catarroja, who will bring some of their traditional boats and gear to the center of Valencia to demonstrate to the public the fishing techniques associated with Lake Albufera.
