Valencia’ s Municipal Transport Company (EMT) today announced the launch of a new payment system that will allow users unlimited travel for a maximum of 21 euros per month.
This new modality, which will be activated next October 1, is the definitive and improved version of the MovimEMT system, which began in February 2024 with an initial test phase.
What in 2024 was presented as a “virtual wallet” in the EMTicket application that required manual recharges, has now evolved into a direct and automated payment system.
Passengers will no longer need to worry about the balance: they will only need to register their bank card, physical or virtualized on their cell phone, on the EMT website to start enjoying the service.
How MovimEMT works

The new system maintains the philosophy that was tested in 2024: rewarding the frequent traveler. However, it significantly improves the experience.
In the 2024 pilot phase the cost per trip was 0.43 € with a spending cap of 17.50 €, but the current model adjusts the bonobús fare to 0.51 € (with current discounts) and sets the maximum monthly spending limit at 21 €, due to the price increase of public transport in 2025.
Once the number of 41 trips in a calendar month is reached, all additional trips will be completely free of charge.
The system is designed so that the user does not have to do any calculations: at the end of each day, the platform will calculate the trips made, apply transfers and automatically charge the cheapest fare.
One of the great new features of this final version is the possibility of associating traditional transport cards to the main bank account. This allows one person to manage family or group travel without each person needing a bank card.
For example, parents can request personalized cards for their children (with an issuance cost of 5 euros), which will work independently for the computation of the 41 trips, but whose expenses will be centralized in the main account.
