Metrovalencia unions have called a series of stoppages during the central days of the Fallas 2025 that will significantly affect the special service launched by the Generalitat Valenciana.
The meeting held this Wednesday between the unions and the management of FGV concluded without agreement, so the planned stoppages are maintained and motivated by the “unilateral modification of working conditions”.
This will alter the usual reinforcements of public transport in these key dates, such as the 24-hour service, which will have less frequencies in some hours.
The scheduled stoppages cover several days and strategic schedules, coinciding with times of high demand due to the falleros events. The minimum services established by FGV will be 75% of the service.
- March 14: From 12:00 to 14:30 hours.
- March 15th: from 11:00 to 14:00 and from 20:00 to 22:00.
- March 16: from 00:05 to 02:00, from 11:30 to 14:00, from 19:30 to 21:30 and from 22:45 to 00:00.
- March 17: 00:30 to 02:30, 12:30 to 15:00 and 20:30 to 22:30.
- March 18: from 01:00 to 03:00, from 12:45 to 15:15, from 17:00 to 19:00 and from 22:45 to 00:00.
- March 19 (San José): from 04:30 to 06:30 and from 12:40 to 15:00.
After the Fallas, the stoppages will resume on March 26, and April 2, 9, 16 and 30, for two hours a day.
The call responds to widespread discontent among workers for several labor changes implemented by Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) without prior agreement.
Among the main claims include changes in the work schedule that affect family reconciliation, the elimination of voluntary service for the holiday of January 1 or the lack of response after the flood of last October 29, which left the staff without a Self-Protection Plan or adequate emergency plans.
These motivations already caused that in February and most of March the first wave of generalized stoppages in the Metrovalencia service was called.
Strike in Cercanías
In addition, Adif and Renfe unions will also stop during the following dates of the Fallas 2025, so the Cercanías, Media Distancia and Alta Velocidad service will be affected with lower frequencies:
- Monday, March 17, 2025 from 00:00 to 23:59 hours.
- Wednesday, March 19, 2025 from 06:00 to 09:00 hours, from 14:00 to 17:00 hours and from 21:00 to 23:00 hours.
The Ministry of Transportation has decreed the following minimum services:
- 75% of the usual rush hour service in Cercanías (from 06:00 to 09:00, from 13:30/14:00 to 15:30/16:00 and from 18:30 to 20:30).
- 50% of the current Cercanías service.
- Alta Velocidad/Larga Distancia: 72% of the usual services.
We recommend consulting the timetables established for minimum services on the official websites and applications of Metrovalencia and Renfe Cercanías.
