What can we say about Sorolla… no matter how hard we try, we will always fall short when trying to describe what his waves, clothes in the wind or fishermen’s nets convey. His line, with the light and colors he uses, immediately evokes idyllic scenes, with movement, but soft, everyday, but special, happy, but tired.
Sorolla is one of the great painters of our land and it is impossible to describe him, you have to see him. Therefore, this year, coinciding with the Sorolla Year, some of the great works of the painter will move temporarily from the headquarters of the Sorolla Museum in Madrid to here, Valencia, his homeland.
From October 4 until March 9, 2025, the Bancaja Foundation will host the exhibition “In the sea of Sorolla with Manuel Vincent”, in collaboration with the Sorolla Museum and the Sorolla Museum Foundation.
The exhibition will feature more than 100 canvases by the expressionist painter and the exhibition proposal, led by the writer Manuel Vicent, will establish a dialogue between painting and literature with the Mediterranean as the common thread.
In addition, the Bancaja Foundation will offer guided tours for anyone who wants to delve deeper into the artist’s paintings. In this way, the experience during the visit to the exhibition will be much richer and deeper.
