In the last two weeks, solidarity has spread throughout Valencia. One of the symbols that have demonstrated the union and collaboration of the neighbors is the pedestrian walkway that connects the neighborhood of Sant Marcelí with the hamlet of La Torre.
Thousands of people have crossed it every day to gain access to help the areas most affected by the DANA. Thanks to this, through social networks, posters and banners it has begun to be baptized as the Bridge of Solidarity.
And it is that at all hours, floods of solidarity people crossed it from one side to the other with brooms, gloves, mops, masks, buckets, water, food … with the aim of helping the residents of the districts and villages of l’Horta Sud.
For this reason, the president of the Consell de la Joventut, has asked the mayoress of Valencia to change the official name. Thanks to this request, the municipal government will initiate the procedures to change the name to Pont de la Solidaritat.
The mayoress has stated that with this change of nomenclature “it would not only honor the memory of the victims, but also highlight the commitment and active participation of the youth in the recovery of our city.”
