These days, Valencia has been full of volunteers to help in the areas most affected by the DANA. Due to the stagnation of water and contamination caused by the floods, there are a series of measures that have been advised by the Conselleria de Sanidad, such as the use of masks and gloves, which we should all follow.
However, it may be that, despite taking the necessary measures, we have been infected with a virus or bacteria. Therefore, it is very important, whether we are volunteers or we live in one of the affected areas, that we pay attention to these symptoms and, in case we have them, go to a Hospital or Health Center.
These are the symptoms that can cause the effects of the DANA in Valencia with which we have to watch out:
- Persistent high fever
- Diarrhea or intense or persistent vomiting, due to the risk of suffering dehydration.
- Dry mouth or decreased urination.
- Severe abdominal pain.
- Yellowing of the skin and eyes.
- Dark urine.
- Persistent cough or shortness of breath.
- Red or purple rashes on the skin that may indicate.
- Severe headache or stiff neck.
- Confusion, disorientation or agitation.
- Open wounds or lesions; especially if they show signs of infection, such as redness, swelling, discharge or pain.
- Feeling a level of stress or anxiety.
Regarding the vaccination, Health has said the following:
- A mass vaccination campaign is not considered necessary at this time.
- The availability of vaccines in health centers has been reinforced, especially those that could be necessary due to an increase in demand (tetanus, diphtheria) or possible outbreaks (hepatitis A).
- Systematic vaccination and seasonal vaccination campaigns (influenza, COVID-19, RSV in children) are maintained.
- Health professionals are recommended to check the vaccination status of those who come for consultation, taking advantage of any opportunity to complete the vaccination schedule.
