This Monday, April 13, the feast day of Saint Vincent Ferrer, patron saint of the people of Valencia, Valencia will host one of the few mascletás on the calendar outside of the Fallas festival. The display is scheduled for 2 p.m. and will not take place in the Plaza del Ayuntamiento; instead, it will be held in the Plaza Tetuán.
The mascletà is part of a program of events that begins this weekend and also includes processions, masses, a floral offering, and a fireworks display next to the Serranos Towers.
When and where to watch the mascletà
The event is scheduled for Monday, April 13, at 2:00 p.m. in Plaza de Tetuán, but the day will begin earlier at 10:00 a.m. with the Pontifical Mass at Valencia Cathedral, followed at 12:00 p.m. by the Offering, with the procession proceeding from City Hall to the saint’s birthplace.
Following the mascletà, the festivities will conclude at 7:00 p.m. with the procession, which will depart from the Cathedral and pass through Plaza de la Reina, Calle de la Pau, General Tovar, Plaza de Tetuán, Església de Sant Doménech, Calle de la Mar, Plaza de Sant Vicent Ferrer, Trinquet de Cavallers, Plaza de Nàpols i Sicília, the Church of Sant Esteve, Edeta Street, Palau Street, and back to the Cathedral.
The preceding weekend also has its own highlights: on Saturday, April 11, at 9:00 p.m., Plaça de la Crida, next to the Serranos Towers, will host a fireworks display by Pirotècnia Nadal.
