The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, announced this Monday during a test run between the stations of Torrent Avinguda and Paiporta that the Valencia metro will recover its activity to 100% next June 27th.
After an investment of 140 million euros by the Generalitat to repair the damage caused by the dana last October, Metrovalencia will resume activity in the last section still affected: Castelló-València Sud.
The measure means the recovery of 100% of the service, with frequencies prior to the incident, including the València Sud-Castelló section, which annually mobilizes nearly seven million users.
In total, 50 kilometers of track, 20 stations and stops have been intervened, with actions that include the renewal of catenaries, tracks, communication systems, as well as the reconstruction of the Paiporta viaduct and the improvement of infrastructures and facilities.
In addition, the Generalitat has distributed 200,000 free transport cards “Recuperem València”, valid in Metrovalencia, EMT, Cercanías, Metrobús and other regional buses, as a measure of support to the affected citizens, who will be able to enjoy the metro free of charge until 2026.
New València Sud station
Work continues on the València Sud station, which will be transformed into an intermodal node with better access, “greater resilience against extreme weather phenomena”, as detailed by the Generalitat, and direct connection to the city’s cyclo-pedestrian green ring.
