The pastrami sandwich is typical of New York, but you don’t have to travel 4,000 miles to savor an authentic one. For the past few weeks, the most famous sandwich in the Big Apple has been served at Pope Deli, a “New York-style” grocery store specializing in this dish, popularized by Jewish delis in the late 19th century.
Stuffed to the brim with about 100 grams of thinly sliced beef, this sandwich is accompanied by brie cheese, pickles, tomato, mustard mayonnaise and grain bread.

Today, it is considered an icon of New York gastronomy and one of the most emblematic sandwiches of American cuisine.
What is Pope Deli Valencia?
At Pope Deli, you can also accompany it with other specialties such as their burgers -which also have a pastrami version- or even a pastrami kebap (why not?!). The menu is short, but it concentrates all the essence of Manhattan in Gran Vía Marqués del Turia de Valencia 12, without forgetting the local product.
Because here vermouth is served on tap, and there is also room for chicharrón de Cádiz, Iberian ham or oxtail in tapa format.
Pope Deli is part of the group behind Ultramarinos Pope, old acquaintances who had already explored a similar concept in L’Eliana and now make the leap to the Valencian capital.
The idea of its owners, Juan Sancho and Susana Garrido, has been to transfer the experience accumulated in the town of Camp de Túria and move it to the center of Valencia with an essence 100% inspired by the Lower East Side of New York.
Its pastrami has not crossed the pond, but is handmade with beef from Extremadura and smoked in Barcelona.
The price of the most iconic sandwich of the house is 16.90 euros, and in that range moves most of the dishes on the menu, which are around 14 or 15 euros, except for the starters, which are around 5.
