The Institut Valencià d’Art Modern (IVAM) has inaugurated a new free room designed especially for family audiences and, in particular, for early childhood. Under the name of “La Moguda del verano”, this new space, open until September 7, is configured as an environment for reading, playing and resting inside the museum, with free access and without the need for reservation.
The room has a careful selection of illustrated books for children by authors such as Hervé Tullet, Eric Carle and Menena Cottin, as well as the latest IVAM catalogs and publications, available for families to share moments of reading together.
This is a summer evolution of the project “Moguda, the IVAM’s traveling library”, which during the school year tours Valencian schools bringing art to the classroom.

One of the central elements of the space is “La Criatura”, an ephemeral art installation designed by the IVAM’s resident children’s group together with the Massa Salvatge collective and the artist Reyes Pe.
This soft, sonorous and multicolored structure -with tentacles that expand throughout the room- carries the wishes that the children have imagined for the museum: from plants and unicorns to magic performances.
The “La Criatura” project was born from a creative process that questions adult-centrism in cultural spaces, with the aim of rethinking the museum from a child’s point of view.
In addition, visitors to ‘La Moguda del verano’ will be able to see projections of stop-motion videos made by children during the workshop ‘Ser artista de cine’, dedicated to the sculptor Julio González.
