It is one of the most visited places in the Valencian Community as far as natural pools are concerned, and since 2025 has for the first time with blue flag. We are talking about the Fuente de los Baños, a paradisiacal enclave in the interior of the province of Castellón.
Located in the Alto Mijares region , on the banks of the Mijares River, what is striking about the Fuente de los Baños, beyond its crystal clear water, is the temperature. No more than 25 °C throughout the year that makes many bathe even in winter.
Its thermal mineral-medicinal waters come from the more than 6,000 liters per minute that the spring pours. The pool winds its way through a limestone gorge almost 15 meters high.
Around it you will find a fluvial beach, which is the one that will have a blue flag in 2025, made of gravel, and the well-known Fuente de los siete caños (Fountain of the seven spouts), emblem and history of the place.
Due to its great tourist attraction, the City Council of Montanejos establishes at different times of the year a capacity control to the natural environment, upon payment of an entrance fee of about 4 euros and with the prohibition of eating on the banks of the natural pool and not to mention access with pets, which is also restricted.
For this, the area has its own bar, where you can have a drink without damaging the environment. A landscape that you can also enjoy with hiking trails in the surroundings and from where you can see the pool in all its splendor from the heights an impressive limestone gorge that rises almost 15 meters and through which the waters flow.
Montanejos is, together with Playamonte, the only inerior beach with blue flag in 2025.
