The Spanish Union of Train Drivers and Assistants (Semaf) has announced a calendar of mobilizations in Metrovalencia that coincides with the main days of the 2026 Fallas festival.
The strikes will affect nine days and will be concentrated during the busiest times of the service starting on March 13.
On which days and at what times will there be strikes?
The strike days will be March 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 24, and 26. On the 13th, service will be interrupted between 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. and again between 9:00 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. with minimum services to be defined.
From the 14th to the 19th, each day will have three affected time slots: one at night between midnight and 2:00 or 2:30 a.m., one at midday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:15 or 4:30 p.m., and an evening-nighttime slot between 8:00 p.m. or 9:30 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. or 11:59 p.m., with variations depending on the day.
On the 24th and 26th, the planned strikes will be from 6:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., from 12:00 p.m. or 12:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. or 4:30 p.m., and from 8:00 p.m. or 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. or 11:00 p.m.
What the unions are demanding
Semaf explains that the strike is in response to unresolved complaints regarding safety and working conditions for train drivers. Semaf is demanding that Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) make specific changes to the management of positions with critical safety functions, an issue that has been blocked for months.
The minimum services will be published before the start of each day of the strike.
Minimum services decreed
The minimum services decreed by the General Directorate of Labor are 80% from March 15 to 19 and 75% on the remaining days.
