Thousands of people use public transport every day to get around Valencia and its metropolitan area, but many are unaware of one of the biggest benefits of their 10-trip pass.
This card allows free transfers between different modes of transport (from the metro to a bus, for example, without having to pay for a new ticket), provided that the time limits set by the transport authority are respected.
Time limits according to zones

For those using the SUMA 10 ticket, the clock starts ticking the moment the card is swiped through the turnstile for the first time.
If the user travels within a single zone, they have 90 minutes to change modes of transport at no extra cost.
This time limit is progressively extended for longer journeys. Thus, the limit reaches 110 minutes for two areas, 130 minutes for three, and up to 140 minutes when crossing four zones.
As a practical example, a person can travel from Llíria to Valencia using the Cercanías network and, upon arrival at their destination, take an EMT bus or a Metrovalencia train completely free of charge.
Although the card applies the benefit automatically when validated, many users are unaware that they have 90 minutes to combine train, subway, and bus, which leads them to purchase unnecessary single tickets or fail to take advantage of this intermodality by only completing one of the journeys on public transport.
This is a special feature of the SUMA 10, where trips are deducted when the card is used. Holders of the SUMA Monthly or Mòbilis30 do not have to worry about the timer, as this option includes unlimited trips and connections throughout its period of validity.
In addition, even though the second journey is free of charge, there is a golden rule that no user should forget: it is mandatory to validate the pass each time you board a new mode of transport to avoid penalties.
