Did you know that civil weddings in Valencia are held in one of the most beautiful gardens in the city? And if you are registered as a resident of Valencia, it’s free. We are talking about the Monforte Gardens and their mansion, where the Valencia City Council officiates civil weddings every week.
These are 19th-century neoclassical gardens of great aesthetic and naturalistic value. They cover an area of over 12,000m2 and are located in the vicinity of the University of Valencia, the Hospital Clínico, and the Jardines del Real or Viveros.

Since 1941, this garden has been considered a “National Artistic Garden.” Its architect was Sebastián Monleón Estellés, who, under the orders of the Marquis of San Juan, conceived this space as a faithful representation of the neoclassical and bourgeois style of the time.
Since the 1970s, the garden has belonged to the Valencia City Council, and civil weddings are held every week in its interior mansion.
The garden features more than thirty sculptures, ponds, and centuries-old tree species such as magnolia and ginkgo, as listed in the council’s species catalog.

If you are lucky enough to attend a civil wedding here, you will be one of the few fortunate people who have been able to enter the mansion. Unlike the garden, this space is only accessible when weddings are being held.
If you are interested in strolling through the garden, you can do so free of charge from 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the months of March and September, or from 10:20 a.m. to 6 p.m. from September 21 to March 20.

A civil wedding in the Monforte Gardens costs €150.63, according to the municipal fee that must be paid for the ceremony. However, couples will be exempt from this fee if one of the parties has been registered as a resident of Valencia for more than 12 months prior to the wedding date.
In addition, provided that an appointment is available, any couple whose file has been processed in Valencia may request to hold the ceremony at these facilities, once they have obtained the court order authorizing the marriage.
The registration period for reservations usually opens at the end of each year, and the allocation of dates is based on a very clear criterion: strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
According to the Municipal Statistics Office, in 2025 alone, 380 weddings were officiated at the mansion.
