Officially, the Fallas season has begun. Although there are still a few months left for the great popular festival, Valencia already has Fallera Mayor and Fallera Mayor Infantil.
Yesterday afternoon, the mayor of the city made the traditional call to the Fallas to name the new Falleras Mayores for 2025. The chosen ones have been Berta Peiró García, from the Falla Ripalda Beneficència and Sant Ramon, from the El Carmen sector, and Lucía García Rivera, from the Falla Arxiduc Carles Xiva, from the Patraix sector.
The proclamation will be held today, Tuesday, October 15, in the afternoon at the Municipal Hemicycle. Berta and Lucia, in this sense, will be, from now on, the highest representatives of the festivities of Sant Josep in 2025.
The event will begin at 19h and will be attended by the courts of honor 2025 and the Falleras Mayores to whom they take over, Estela Arlandis and Maria Garcia Arribas, who will also be accompanied by their courts of honor. Finally, representatives of the festivities of Castelló and Alicante will also attend.
During the next year, Berta and Lucia will be in charge of presiding over the events of the Fallas of Valencia organized by the Junta Central Fallera. In addition, they will also go as Valencian representatives to other traditional festivities in Spain.
Who are the new Falleras Mayores?
Lucía García, Fallera Mayor Infantil de Valencia 2024, studies 6th grade and has been a fallera since she was 2 years old. Currently, she has the Bunyol d’Argent, a reward given since 1945 to those participants involved in the festivities of Sant Josep, and this year she will receive the Bunyol d’Or.
On the other hand, Berta Peiró is 23 years old and has a degree in Labor Relations and Human Resources from the University of Valencia. Berta has been a fallera since she was born, like all her family, and this year, she will also receive the recognition of the Bunyol d’Or. In addition, her commission celebrates its 150th anniversary this 2024.
From now on, the two falleras will be in charge of being the representatives of the Fallas 2025. Quite a responsibility.
