The consequences of the DANA in Valencia have been devastating. Even though the worst is over, we still have to take precautions, both because of the weather conditions and the state of stagnant water and decaying materials that we can find if we participate as volunteers in the various municipalities that need more help.
For this reason, the authorities have alerted citizens of what measures they should take.
Below we have compiled all the information on what to do and how to protect yourself from the DANA effects in Valencia. This will be expanded as new recommendations are issued by the official media.

Communicating emergencies
If someone is in a dangerous situation, he/she should call the emergency services through 112.
Telephone for relatives of missing persons
The Generalitat Valenciana has activated a telephone number for relatives of people missing during the DANA. This should be used only in case of not being able to contact a family member. For emergencies you should continue to call 112.
📞 Phone number for missing relatives: 900 365 112
Respect weather warnings
The AEMET has warned that, although the worst episode was on Tuesday, some areas of the Comunitat Valenciana are still on alert.
Currently, the province of Castellón is on orange alert for rain and storms and Valencia is on yellow alert.
In this sense, it is necessary to be attentive to the official media and follow their indications.
Necessary materials for volunteers
The Generalitat has issued a communiqué for all those volunteers for the DANA in Valencia about what materials and clothing they should bring.
Some areas can be dangerous due to stagnant water. Therefore, when volunteering, we must make sure we have all the material on this list:
- Mask
- Waterproof boots or hiking shoes
- Protective gloves
- Food and water for the day
- Cleaning materials: shovels, buckets, brooms…
Avoid risk areas
Whether we participate as volunteers or not, it is important to avoid risk areas where firefighters, police and rescue teams have not yet been able to access. Therefore, we must follow the official recommendations and always be in contact with the local authorities.
Get information through official media
Another piece of advice given by Carlos Mazón is to follow only official channels and not to pay attention to news circulating on the Internet without checking them. All information to be communicated will be done through Ápunt, Ápunt Radio and the social network X of 112 (@GVA112). Any other information from social networks, has remarked Mazón, is not official.
