Christmas is approaching and there are just under three weeks left to celebrate one of the most magical times of the year. However, for many Valencian families, this Christmas will be marked by the consequences of the DANA. A month and a half after the catastrophe, there are many neighbors who still need help, especially children, who have seen how their lives have been turned upside down.
Therefore, with the aim of bringing the magic of Christmas and culturally invigorate these areas, the museums of Valencia have organized the initiative “Museos Viajeros” (Traveling Museums). And is that throughout this month of December and early January, these centers will travel to the districts of the city affected by the DANA so that the smallest of the house can continue to enjoy the celebrations and the joy of these dates.
The program, which will have a Christmas camp format, aims to be a breath of fresh air for children who have suffered the effects of flooding. In this sense, the camp “Museos Viajeros” will have three shifts:
- First: December 21, 22 and 23, 2024.
- Second: December 26, 27 and 28, 2024.
- Third: January 2, 3 and 4, 2025.
During the days , artistic, sports, manipulation and research activities will be carried out, such as “Archaeologists for a day”, “Touch fossils”, “La Lonja, the voice of stone”, “Saturnalia, a party with lots of light”, “A fossil, a Christmas ornament?” or “Benlliure, original or fake?”.
Each day will be dedicated to a museum or heritage space of the city of Valencia, such as the Museum of Natural Sciences, the Benlliure House-Museum, the Llotja de la Seda or the ruins of the Royal Palace. In this way, the resources of the museums will be accessible from the districts without the need to travel.
Where and how to register
“Museos Viajeros” will take place in Castell-l’Oliveral, although all children from the three affected districts will be able to participate. The spaces where the camp will take place will be the multipurpose room of the Town Hall and the Sports Center of Castellar-l’Oliveral.
Registrations will open on December 11 and can be made through this form. Each shift will have 60 places.
