The Valencia City Council has announced that the official lighting of the Christmas lights, scheduled for this Friday, November 21, will be a multidisciplinary show that will combine live music, a narrative thread based on a Christmas story and a pyromusical castle.
The event, under the slogan “La música encén el Nadal”, will begin at 7:30 pm.
“It won’t be an act of just flipping a switch and that’s it.”

This year consistory has opted for an inauguration format that goes beyond the traditional lighting, linking the start of the Christmas campaign with the feast of Santa Cecilia, patron saint of music (November 22), and the cultural strategy València Music City.
The show will feature a live performance by Valencian singer Melani García, winner of Tu cara me suena, who will be accompanied by pianist Eduard Marquina and violinist Federico Nathan, a professor at Berklee València.
Also participating will be the Juan Bautista Comes choir of the Municipal Conservatory, directed by Cristina Contreras and with the child soloist Yaimar Peña.
After the musical performances, the company Pirotecnia Valenciana, from Llosa de Ranes, will offer a pyromusical show. Immediately after, the major falleras of Valencia, Carmen Prades and Marta Mercader, along with the mayoress, María José Catalá, will proceed to the official ignition.
An event that from the City Council have defined as follows: “It will not be an act of pressing a switch and that’s it”.
