Traveling south of Valencia (or north of the province of Alicante, depending on how you look at it) hides one of the most beautiful corners of the Valencian coast. The Moraig cove is an enclave where nature is the only cause of its attractiveness. Yes, it’s trendy and has taken over Instagram galleries over the summer, but there’s no great architect behind this gem here.
Cala del Moraig is located in Benitatxell, right between Xàbia and Moraira, and is composed of two parts: the beach itself and the Cova dels Arcs, possibly its most photographed nook. It is a perfect spot to spend a summer morning because of its excellent diving conditions and rocky area.
To get there you have to head towards Benitatxell. The village and the cove are about 10 minutes apart. To get there you must pass through the urbanization Cumbres del Sol and descend a steep slope to the cove.
The beach, with sand and pebbles and turquoise blue waters, is what everyone looks for in a beach in the Mediterráneo. If you come here you will not be disappointed, but in high season you will have to be patient.
It is advisable to arrive early to avoid parking problems and to wear water shoes for swimming. But, above all, to discover its much-photographed cave, one of the most important in the world the best sea caves of the Valencian Community.
La Cova dels Arcs, one of the best caves in the Comunitat de Mallorca
The Cova dels Arcs has three arches through which water enters. It is a visitable area, but extreme caution should be taken because the rocks are slippery. In its interior there are galleries through which expert divers can enter, but it is not recommended for the general public.
In fact, inside, there is another cave reserved for experts. We refer to the Cueva de los Peces, the unknown cave of Cala Moraig, to which access is only possible when the sea is calm.
It can only be accessed by sea, it is the safest option, and it is done bordering the Cova dels Arcs on the outside.
How to get to Cala Moraig
The fastest way to get to this cove from Valencia is to take the AP-7 towards Alicante, up to Ondara. There we will take a series of regional and local roads until we reach Benitachell and the vicinity of the urbanization Cumbres del Sol.
