The bar and horchatería Cal Carrero, located in the neighborhood of San Isidro in Valencia, has the best appetizer in Spain in 2025. This establishment has won the first prize in the final of the First Championship of Spain The Perfect Aperitif.
The Valencian establishment beat in the final phase, held last December 10, the proposals of Alalunga Taberna (Gijón) and Onde Keiras Restaurante (Ames, A Coruña), which completed the podium in second and third position respectively.
The contest, which has been developed during three weeks through a mixed system of popular voting -locality to locality- and a professional jury in the final, has recognized the bet of Cal Carrero for its bravas recipe.
Located in Camino Nuevo de Picaña, 41, the winning establishment is defined as a “valuing of the Valencian orchard”. If you come, you can try these winning bravas for 5 euros a portion.
Although it operates as a horchatería and ice cream parlor in the afternoon, in the mornings it is a pilgrimage point for the esmorzar culture, which in 2025 has also earned it a Cacau d’Or award.
The establishment is open from Tuesday to Saturday (09:00 to 13:00 and 17:00 to 22:00 hours).
