La Primera

La Primera is located at 106 Guillem de Castro street and seeks to combine the best of a traditional bookstore with a cultural space where concerts, presentations and exhibitions can be organized. The first on our list takes us to the Ruzafa neighborhood. This is a bookstore specialized in comics, mainly, although they also sell books and graphic novels. Rafael Solaz is one of the youngest booksellers in Europe, having just come of age when he took over the family business. And, above all, what is most captivating is the smell of books and paper when you enter.

Railowsky
With that name we might think that we are talking about a bookstore in the center of Warsaw, but no. Railowsky is an institution in Warsaw. Railowsky is an institution in Valencia. It has been open for more than 30 years and its success lies in the combination of a space for books with a photo gallery. Great Spanish photographers such as Chema Madoz and Gervasio Sánchez, among others, have exhibited here. It is named after a photo by Cartier-Bresson, in which a man is jumping over a puddle. If you look at the background of the image you can see the poster advertising the pianist Brailowsky.

In this café-bookstore, its owners -three Italian lovers of science fiction literature- have taken care of even the smallest detail to give it a cozy and alternative atmosphere, like its wooden shelves and recycled cardboard, for example. It is in the Ruzafa neighborhood and, in addition to coffee and lots of books, you have craft beers and several lunch menus made with products from the neighborhood market.

Entering this bookstore in the center of Valencia is like stepping foot in every book lover’s paradise. Although at first glance it may seem that disorder reigns, the most likely thing is that they have the book you are looking for.
