On the façade of a building in downtown Valencia, there is a plaque commemorating something that Valencia CF fans know well: that the club was founded in 1919 at that location, or nearby. For years, the building at 4 Barcelonina Street was considered the site of the former Bar Torino, where a group of members officially founded the club.
Subsequent research has cast doubt on that exact location, but the plaque remains there, as does the symbolic link to the history of Valencia football.

Now that building is back on the market. The General Directorate of Heritage, under the Regional Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Public Administration, has called for a new public auction for its sale, with a starting price of 1,358,489.07 euros.
This isn’t the first time: the property has already had four previous calls for bids that went unanswered. This new procedure, published in the Official Gazette of the Valencian Regional Government (DOGV), employs a sealed-bid auction system to facilitate its sale.
The building has a floor area of between 727 and 764 square meters, depending on the land registry or plans; it is registered in the Property Registry and listed in the Generalitat’s Inventory of Assets and Rights.
It currently has no public use, which places it within the Consell’s strategy to dispose of regional assets that are no longer necessary for the administration.
The same auction also includes a rural property located in Vila-real, although the bulk of the value—and historical interest—lies with the property in Valencia.
Deadlines and conditions for participating in this auction
The auction will be organized in lots with sealed-bid submissions. If the first auction is unsuccessful, the terms of the sale allow for up to three additional auctions with a progressive reduction in the base price.
To participate, a deposit equivalent to 5% of the bid amount for each property is required. Additionally, please note the following dates:
- Submission of bids: until June 9, at the General Registry of the Regional Ministry of Economy, Finance, and Public Administration.
- Bid opening: June 30, in the auditorium of the Regional Ministry (Calle Palau, 12, Valencia)
Those interested in obtaining documentation and information regarding this auction process may consult it online via the Regional Ministry’s website and then access the “Properties for Auction” section.
