During the DANA hundreds of owners have lost their cars. Due to the torrential rains, users had to abandon them to move to a safe space and the large floods caused them to be lost.
Therefore, Tu Coche DANA is an initiative that aims to put in contact those who have lost their cars with volunteers who mark the points where they have been found.
The initiative has been developed by Juan Francisco Soler Cataño, professor of computer science at the IES Alyanub in Almería, and a former student of his, who is now studying mechanical engineering at the UPV, René Molina Ávila .
Below we explain how Tu Coche Dana works so that, if you have lost or found a car, you can help to recover it.
How Tu Coche Dana works
At the moment, you can only access the platform through the website tucochedana.es, although Android and IOS apps are currently being developed.
Once inside, there are two options. One, if you have found a car, you can register it by entering the license plate, location, make, color and other additional details.
On the other hand, if you are looking for your car, you can access the search engine by entering the license plate. Once entered, all the details will be given, including the location, which can be opened directly on the user’s cell phone.
To preserve privacy, it is not possible to consult the complete list of all the cars found, but only that of the information entered.
But what happens if your car is not there? Do you have to constantly access the platform? The answer is no. If you enter your license plate and it is not registered in the database, a Telegram bot will check the database every 60 minutes and, if it is registered, it will be able to notify the owner.
Data protection
Because this is an initiative that works with personal data, a volunteer law graduate has developed a data privacy policy that you can read here.
