If you are between 18 and 30 years old this coming summer, you will be able to travel by train in Spain with discounts of up to 90%. This Tuesday the Council of Ministers has announced an extension of the “Verano Joven 2025” program for those born between January 1st, 1995 and December 31st, 2007.
How much will ‘Verano Joven 2025’ train tickets cost?
According to the Ministry of Transport, the applicable discounts will be as follows:
- Medium-distance trains (conventional and metric gauge): a 90% discount will be applied to both single and round-trip tickets.
- Renfe Avant: 50% discount will be offered on single and return tickets.
- Commercial or high speed trains (such as AVE or Avlo): there will be a 50% discount on the ticket price, with a maximum limit of 30 € per ticket.
- Regular state buses: a 90% discount will be applied on both single and return tickets.
- Interrail Global Flexible Pass (valid for 10 days within 2 months), sold through Renfe: will be offered with a 50% discount.
How to get the ‘Verano Joven 2025’ discount?
In addition to age, users must previously validate their eligibility through the website that will be launched in the coming days by the Ministry of Transport. There they will have to register with their DNI or NIE and wait 24 hours before making the first purchase.
The system will generate, as in previous years, a redeemable code on the websites of rail and road transport operators such as buses.
Trips must be made between July 1 and September 30, 2025.
