The crispiest torrezno in the Valencian Community is made an hour away from Valencia, in the capital of La Plana. For the third consecutive year, the Estraperlo bar in Castellón has won first prize in the regional phase of the “Best Torrezno in the World” competition .
The establishment, located at Calle Temprado 6 in Castellón, beat seven other competing restaurants in the region in a blind tasting held on Saturday, February 14.
According to the menu available on its website, the tapa or portion of torreznos from Soria currently costs €4 and also has a vegan version.
Now, the restaurant will represent the region in the international grand final, which will take place in El Burgo de Osma, Soria, next March.

According to the jury, the secret of this recipe lies in its balance. A golden crust full of bubbles and tender, pink lean meat, which perfectly replicates the sound of the crust crunching, an essential attribute of an authentic Torrezno de Soria.
Both this bar and the other participants had to present a “tower” of freshly fried torreznos, with raw materials certified by the Torrezno de Soria brand, organizer of the contest together with the Virrey Palafox restaurant.
