Known as “the most beautiful night of the year”—and with St. John’s blessing— the Night of Candles has become more than just a tradition in the town of Titaguas. Just over an hour’s drive from Valencia, its first edition took place in 2013. And now, thirteen years later, this unique event once again temporarily turns off the streetlights to bathe every street, square, and corner of the town in light.
That said, it’s only for one night. This Saturday, July 25, marks the start of a weekend that will feature not only the lighting of more than 30,000 candles but also a wide range of activities of all kinds: a craft market, stargazing with a telescope, and many other new features for the 2026 edition.
Candlelight, workshops, and live music: here’s what Titaguas’ Night of Candles 2026 will look like
As in previous years, in 2026 the Night of Candles begins long before the lights are lit. Starting on the morning of July 25, we’ll be able to enjoy all kinds of workshops and activities, from urban walking tours to poetry readings and visits to the planetarium. Starting at 6:00 p.m., you can visit the craft market at Tiro de la Barra, and at 7:00 p.m., the candles will begin to be placed as a brass band parades through the streets, filling the town with music. The lighting ceremony will take place at 9:30 p.m.
There will also be micro-theater performances and micro-concerts by candlelight starting at 10:30 p.m., as well as telescope observations of the night sky beginning at 11:00 p.m. New this year is a special raffle for a selection of NDLV-Titaguas products via social media, as well as the relaunch of a space dedicated exclusively to products bearing the Alto Turia Biosphere Reserve seal.
The celebration will continue on Sunday with a full morning of activities designed for the whole family. Starting at 11:00 a.m., the craft market will be open in Plaza de Los Graneros until 1:00 p.m., and during those same hours, children can also enjoy water games in Plaza de la Olivera. In addition, there will be a food and beverage stand at the Clavarios bar on Carnicería Street.

For those who find just one night of candlelit concerts too short or simply can’t make it to Titaguas this weekend, Valencia hosts many candlelit live music events scheduled throughout the year.
