The City of Arts and Sciences has dawned overflowing with people sharing a moment of historic solidarity: thousands of people have come to the call for volunteers that the Generalitat launched yesterday, giving appointment to anyone who wanted to collaborate at 7:00 this Saturday at the Science Museum Principe Felipe.
The organization estimates that this morning some 10,000 people have come forward to collaborate.
Neighborhood solidarity has been massive, to the point that the Generalitat has communicated that they already have 2,500 volunteers for this Saturday organized in shifts for the whole day, and has called on people to come in stages to the same meeting point in the coming days, so that work groups can be formed to which specific cleaning tasks will be assigned to then move them in stages to the areas most affected by the DANA.
Thanks to the success of the call, in just an hour and a half the 50 buses that are transporting volunteers to where they are most needed have been filled .
Material to help in the clean-up work
It is necessary that people who volunteer in the affected areas wear waterproof boots or hiking shoes suitable for mud, as well as protective gloves to handle potentially hazardous materials and masks.
The Generalitat has also asked people to bring cleaning material such as shovels and brooms to clear the streets. People should also bring water and food to get through the day.
