Valencia is gearing up for the second edition of the Race for Solidarity, the charity event aimed at raising funds for the fight against multiple sclerosis, ADHD, and lung cancer.
This Sunday, November 8, the races begin at 9:00 a.m. and will last until 12:00 noon, but road closures and public transportation disruptions will continue for several more hours. Today, November 5, is the last day to register, although you can still support the charitable cause through their website.
The race features two parallel routes:
- The 5-kilometer race: starts on Paseo de la Alameda, between Pont de les Flors and Pont de la Exposició, heading toward Plaza de Saragossa. It continues along Avenida d’Aragó to Blasco Ibáñez, turns left onto Calle Professor Doctor Severo Ochoa, and then left again onto Doctor Moliner. It returns via Blasco Ibáñez and Avenida d’Aragó to the finish line, on the same stretch of the Alameda.
- The 2-kilometer race: It starts at the same point and heads toward Plaza de Saragossa, continues along Avenida d’Aragó, and makes a 180-degree turn on Calle Èol. It then returns along Avenida d’Aragó to the finish line on Paseo de la Alameda.
Traffic Closures and Parking Restrictions
The Mobility Department has prepared a special traffic plan. Starting at 6:30 a.m. on Sunday, Paseo de la Alameda will be closed to vehicles on the section between Calle del Pintor Peiró and the Aragó Bridge to set up the start and finish lines.
In addition, parking will be prohibited from Saturday, November 7, at 10:00 p.m. until Sunday, November 8, at 12:00 p.m. at the following locations:
- Paseo de la Alameda, from Pintor Peiró to the Exposició Bridge, along the river and in the downtown area.
- Paseo de la Alameda, between the Exposició Bridge and Plaza de Saragossa, in both directions and in the central area.
Affected EMT routes
Up to 19 EMT bus routes will be affected on Sunday due to road closures and traffic restrictions. Routes 4, 6, 10, 11, 12, 16, 26, 30, 31, 32, 70, 71, 81, 92, 93, 94, 95, C2, and C3 will have altered routes and stops for the duration of the event.
The City Council and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (EMT) recommend checking bus route information on the official EMT app, on its website, or on its social media channels, where they will provide minute-by-minute updates on the bus network’s status.
