Valencia Airport continues to add new flight routes ahead of 2027: after resuming direct service to New York and launching flights to Brasov and Chisinau, Ryanair has announced that it will operate flights to Funchal, on the island of Madeira, starting March 28 of next year, with two weekly flights.
This route will connect Manises and Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport via the Irish airline for the first time, although it is not the first time such a flight has operated out of the Valencia airport. Between 2009 and 2013 and between 2023 and 2025, Air Nostrum operated regular flights on this route, but last summer it discontinued the route, and service was reduced to a few occasional charter flights.
The new route will operate on Thursdays and Sundays, with each flight lasting approximately 2 hours and 40 minutes:

Ryanair Cancels Six Routes to and from Valencia
Manises Airport continues to grow every year in terms of routes, passengers, and soon also in terms of physical space, although for now there is only a date set for the runway renovation work, which will result in nighttime closures, schedule reorganization, and the rerouting of some flights. However, even as Ryanair launches this new route to Madeira, the Irish airline is scaling back its presence in various European markets, including Spain.
This new route cancellation policy stems from disputes between the airline and multiple governments over airport fees and aviation taxes. Ryanair will completely cease operations at 13 international airports and eliminate dozens of routes, particularly those connecting to Belgium and Germany.
Starting next season, it will no longer be possible to fly with Ryanair from Valencia to Brussels, Santiago de Compostela, Santander, Tenerife South, Cork, and Edinburgh.
