The Llibreria Ramon Llull in Valencia has won the Cultural Bookstore 2025 Award, a prize given by the Spanish Confederation of Bookstore Associations and Guilds (CEGAL), with the support of the Ministry of Culture.
In this 27th edition of the award, to which a total of 43 bookstores applied, the jury highlighted the cultural programming of the Valencian bookstore, describing it as “titanic, both because of the different formats it carries out and because it takes into account all the agents in the book chain”.
Likewise, the members of the jury, made up of publishers, journalists, translators and booksellers from previous editions, mentioned its “work in helping to understand the present by carrying out activities in the bookshop”.
The Llibreria Ramon Llull team, formed by Francisco Benedito, Almudena Amador and Óscar Brox, highlighted in their report their conception of the space as “a place for meeting and enjoyment of reading and conversation”. They emphasized that his establishment “exercises and fosters a critical spirit, tolerance, freedom of expression and freedom of thought”.
The Cultural Bookstore Award, which has been awarded since 1999, seeks to recognize the work of bookstores that carry out “a continuous task of cultural dynamization and dissemination of books and reading”.
