Between a bakery and a cafeteria where the torrija is the queen. This is how we could define the idea behind Panou, the first store in Valencia (and Spain) dedicated exclusively to artisan torrijas, which opened its doors a few months ago.
Led by the entrepreneur Carola Picot, this establishment sells dozens of units of this traditional dessert every day for 4 euros.

With the idea of claiming it as a sweet available all year round, Panou elaborates its torrijas following a family recipe and proposes to accompany them with different complements, such as toppings of crispy bacon, caramelized almonds or Lotus (0.80 €), creams (1.20 €) or ice cream (2 €), in addition to take-away boxes of 4 units (15 €) or 6 units (22 €).
“The project was born as a tribute to the cuisine of our grandmothers, with traditional flavors such as arnadí, nougat or custard, along with more creative proposals,” explains Picot.

The store, located at Conde Salvatierra number 4, also serves specialty coffee and is intended as a meeting point between the new generations and the typical artisanal and classic Spanish pastries.
