With the permission of the extinct Marina D’Or, Oropesa del Mar has recovered one of its most recognizable tourist icons of recent years: the swing located inside the sea on the beach of La Concha.
This structure, known for being the first water swing in Spain installed in the sea, has been reinstalled in its original location during the summer of 2025, after several years out of the water for legal reasons.
Where is the Oropesa swing located?
Made of bamboo and sustainably anchored without cement, the swing was first installed in 2021 as part of a tourism initiative inspired by models from international destinations such as Bali.
The idea was to integrate it into the coastal landscape without affecting the marine environment, in order to become a much photographed and shared element on social networks.
Between 2022 and 2024, the Directorate General of Coasts ordered its removal from the sea because it did not have the necessary authorization, which forced it to be temporarily moved to dry land.
However, a favorable court ruling obtained by the City Council of Oropesa del Mar at the end of 2024 allowed the installation to be returned to its original location.
Since this summer, the structure has recovered its original location and is once again part of the usual landscape of the Concha beach.
