Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) will again allow travel with folding and classic bicycles from October 1, although with nuances. Since the suspension of the line by the dana last October, users could not access with their bicycles to the subway in any of the sections.
Last July FGV took the first step by reinstating the rule for folding bicycles, and now it does so for all days of the week both for folding bicycles without limitation per carriage, as well as for classic bicycles, with a maximum of 4 per carriage and only on surface sections throughout the metro network.
Electric personal mobility vehicles such as scooters will continue to be unauthorized, although electric bikes will be allowed to travel under the same rules as classic bicycles.
The new provision prohibits, as was previously the case, the access of this type of bicycles in the subway sections and on the tram lines. This means that a cyclist without a folding bike who starts his trip at a surface station will have to get off at the last stop before the convoy enters a tunnel.
The measure, presented at the last session of its Board of Directors, comes after the completion of most of the reconstruction process of the network after the past floods.
Users with folding bicycles will have greater facilities. Their access will be allowed on the entire metro and streetcar network, every day of the week and without any limitation on the number of bicycles. The indispensable condition is that they must always travel folded, both inside the trains and during transit through the facilities.
To ensure the safety and comfort of all passengers, FGV has established that bicycles must always be placed in the last car of the train, owners must remain standing next to their bicycles and it is forbidden to obstruct access to the driver’s cabs or passenger entrance and exit doors.
FGV always reserves the right to prohibit access with bicycles throughout the network or in specific areas during large events, such as Fallas, to ensure safety.
