The President of the Generalitat, Carlos Mazón, has presented this Tuesday, October 14, an aid package worth 108 million euros for families and students two weeks before the anniversary of the floods that caused 229 deaths last October 29, 2024.
The bulk of the aid, which will benefit about 200,000 students, according to data from the Generalitat Valenciana, consists of several allocations: on the one hand a direct aid of 500 euros per student of school age for the purchase of school supplies, books and educational supplies.
The subsidy will be cumulative per child, so that a family with three children can receive 1,500 euros.
It will be destined to students enrolled in non-university regulated education (public, private or subsidized) in municipalities affected by the dana of October 29, 2024. It includes the second cycle of infant education (from 3 to 6 years old); Primary, Compulsory Secondary Education, Baccalaureate, Vocational Training, Special Education, as well as Language and Arts and Sports Education, among others.
Applications can be processed through the website of the Conselleria de Educación from October 20 to November 19, with on-site support in schools for those families who need it.
Aid to university students and host families
On the other hand, a direct aid of 600 euros for each of the approximately 5,000 university students residing in the areas affected by the floods of last October 29, 2024. It will be granted without prior justifications and according to social criteria.
The third tranche of aid is focused on the 383 families that took in minors during the crisis. They will receive a minimum aid of 3,000 euros per child, which may reach 6,000 euros depending on the number of children fostered.
Finally, 3.5 million euros of this aid will be granted ex officio, without the need for processing, to large families, single-parent families and families with people with disabilities in the affected area, with amounts between 1,000 and 2,000 euros per family.
The procedures to apply for each of these aids will be published soon in the portals of the Generalitat Valenciana.
