The solidarity response of the residents of Valencia leaves striking images such as the inside of the Mestalla stadium full of bags of food and basic necessities. Valencia Club de Fútbol itself has just announced that, in view of this massive response, the donation and collection of food and basic necessities at the stadium has come to an end (for the moment).
The Camp de Mestalla has become, in recent days, one of the epicenters of collection, sorting and distribution of food and basic necessities. The club itself, in an official press release, reports that from Wednesday October 30 until this past Sunday, they have collected more than one million kilos (specifically, 1,056,750 kg).
In addition to the rapid wave of citizen help, this initiative was joined by volunteers and also Valencia CF players, Valencia CF Femenino players and the VCF Academy.
The prompt joint action of Valencia Club de Fútbol and Banco de Alimentos de Valencia, resulted in the opening of the stadium doors for the reception of all kinds of aid and to serve as an improvised distribution center for the municipalities most affected by the DANA catastrophe.
In the Valencian club’s official Instagram stories, they inform that “we will inform, together with the Valencia Food Bank the next steps to follow. We can only reiterate our gratitude for so much help and we will continue working together to recover from this situation”.
