The emblematic building of red brick and white stone located in the Avenida del Puerto de Valencia will be from now on a McDonald’s. The old factory of Industrias Aceiteras Casanova, one of the pioneers in the production of oil during the 20th century, already has the signs of the North American brand, which will soon open a new hamburger restaurant here.
According to Levante-EMV, the project has a favorable heritage report and the company has already submitted the responsible declaration of works. The idea is that this place will be open 24 hours a day and will have several floors.
“It is still pending to define if its intervention project has heritage transcendence”, the article details.
This building, located at number 193 of the avenue, belonged to the Casanova family, owner of Industrias Aceiteras Casanova and later promoter in the 1930s of Compañía Industria del Film Español S.A., one of the largest Spanish film production companies in history.
In total, the building has more than 2,300m2 of floor space divided into 4 floors. It went on sale in 2023 for a price of 5.8 million euros. It was last remodeled in the early 2000s.
The conversion of historic buildings into retail outlets is spreading throughout Valencia: the transformation of the former Monte Piedad headquarters next to the Mercat Central into an Eroski supermarket with extended opening hours has recently been announced.
