The Town Hall Square will once again be the center of the festivities and fireworks this weekend to mark the Feast of Our Lady of the Forsaken.
On Saturday, May 9, at 11:59 p.m., Pirotecnia Caballer FX will light up the city sky with a fireworks display ahead of the Mare de Déu festival scheduled for Sunday, May 10.
The very next day, Sunday, May 10, the celebration will continue at 2:00 p.m. with a traditional mascletá by Pirotecnia Aitana, following the transfer of the “Geperudeta” to the Plaza de la Virgen, the Missa de Descoberta, the Missa d’Infants, and before the procession.

FRIDAY, MAY 8
8:00 p.m. Children’s dance (Dansà), featuring the participation of Valencia’s Children’s Fallera Mayor and her court of honor.
11:00 p.m. Dance performance by the dance groups of the Fallas committees, featuring the Fallera Mayor of Valencia and her court of honor.
SATURDAY, MAY 9
10:30 a.m. Solemn Mass at the Basilica on the liturgical feast of the Virgin.
6:30 p.m. Dansà featuring dance groups from the surrounding towns.
8:00 p.m. Solemn Salve to the Virgin in her chapel.
11:00 p.m. Concert by the Valencia Municipal Symphonic Band, conducted by Miguel Vidagany, as assistant conductor of the BSMV. (“At Your Feet, Virgin, a Tapestry of Music” featuring pieces by Roque Baños, Arnau Bataller, Enric Murillo, Manuel Palau, Miguel Asins, Javier Forner, and José Serrano).
11:59 p.m. Fireworks display in the Town Hall Square, by Caballer FX Pyrotechnics.
Once the fireworks display ends, in the Plaza de la Virgen, there will be a dance performance featuring groups from the city of Valencia. This will be followed by a recital by the Cant Valencià d’Estil Association. (The dances are organized in collaboration with the Valencian Community Folklore Federation).
SUNDAY, MAY 10
5:00 a.m. Mass of the Unveiling (Opening) of the image of the Virgin in her chapel. (Doors open at 3:30 a.m.).
8:00 a.m. Children’s Mass, in the Plaza de la Virgen, featuring the José Iturbi Municipal Conservatory Symphony Orchestra, the Joan Baptista Comes Choir, and the Basilica de la Virgen Children’s Choir.
10:30 a.m. Procession of the Virgin from her chapel to the Cathedral along Miguelete Street, entering through the Puerta de los Hierros.
2:00 p.m. Mascletà in the Town Hall Square, presented by Pirotecnia Aitana.
5:30 p.m. General procession along the following route: Plaza de la Virgen, Caballeros, Tossal, Bolsería, Mercado Central, María Cristina, San Vicente, Reina, Mar, Avellanas, Palau, and Almoina.
MONDAY, MAY 11
8:30 p.m. Procession in Honor of the Virgin. Organized by the Bancaja Foundation with the support of the Valencia City Council. Participants include the Valencia Municipal Symphonic Band, the Orfeón Valenciano choir, tenor Vicente Ombuena, soprano Carmen Avivar, and the Alimara Dance Group.
WEDNESDAY, MAY 20
6:30 a.m. Public kissing of the hand before the processional image of the Virgin in the Basilica. Access will remain open until the last worshipper has passed.
